Welcome!! You have entered a space where all people are invited to gather to discuss matters of Spirituality, in mutual respect and friendliness: "Considering...Spirituality." Here, the focus is on personal spirituality and not dogma. We welcome with open arms people from any, all, and no religious/faith backgrounds, and those who practice spirituality on their own, to join us for a discussion centered on a higher consciousness. Each day there will be a quote, question, or discussion prompt presented for all to ponder and respond to.
**In maintaining an atmosphere of comfort and trust, we do not allow proselytizing (the effort of trying to convert others) or the denigrating of the religions and viewpoints of others. We also avoid bringing up topics such as politics, hot button social issues, or anything that can be considered divisive**
As this was a WW board, we also discuss our personal wellness, including our weight management program. We share our struggles and our triumphs regarding such as well as discuss things like family, friends, jobs, hobbies, outside interests, etc... We strive to build each other up with loving support in a positive manner. Let us not ever tear one another down in any way, shape or form.
Regular thread starters for the time being are:
Sunday, Monday, Tuesday: Gary / Wednesday, Thursday, Friday: Holly
Yet if anyone is so inclined, please feel free to start a new thread by beginning with the title: "Considering ... (topic)," post this introduction (by way of copy & paste) then follow that with a post putting forth a question and/or quote (with or without some explanation) for us to ponder today. The topic can be inspired by your personal faith, but please do remember that anyone from other spiritual paths should be able to answer it.
Shalom, Love & Light, Blessed Be, Namaste...

Are you teady to grab you backpacks and hit the books as another year of school starts?
If you aren't quite in the school mood yet, here's a message from Elder David A. Bednar, formerly president of BYU-Idaho and currently an Apostle, that might change your perspective:
You and I are here upon the earth to prepare for eternity, to learn how to learn, to learn things that are temporally important and eternally essential, and to assist others in learning wisdom and truth (see D&C 97:1).
Understanding who we are, where we came from, and why we are upon the earth places upon each of us a great responsibility both to learn how to learn and to learn to love learning.
Learning to love learning equips us for an ever-changing and unpredictable future. Knowing how to learn prepares us to discern and act upon opportunities that others may not readily recognize. I am confident you will pass the test of learning what to do when you do not know what to do or how to proceed. I pray your love of learning will grow ever deeper, ever richer, and ever more complete.
Today's q/q: What do you think about lifetime learning? How would you pursue a lifetime of learning without breaking the bank? What spiritual benefits are there to lifetime learning?

hi Everyone, YESTERDAY: Christina, thank you. How can I get my email to you without publishing on the forum? I would love to be included. As for jobs, I can relate to you and Gary...I'm just ticking time away until I have everything ready to retire. I have found that excellence is not something people are interested in anymore much less actually managing people in a positive productive way. So, mediocre is what they get. And they are good with that. they only care about how much you can crank out. My other life is a life of yoga, workshops, life coaching. so much more fulfilling. That is how I hope to supplement my income in retirement. And I'm good with a job at Publix too. I think I can be of service to others no matter where I am.
TODAY: Lifetime learning. I am a forever student. I read, I attend workshops, seminars, webcasts etc. I also learn from watching people and how they show up in the world. I learn things I want to emulate and those I don't. Lifetime learning has taught me to be more open (not necessarily agree with everything) to understand different perspectives and that no one has the market cornered on the truth. I have learned that there are many ways to connect and have a relationship with G0d. Religion is only a vehicle.
I don't ever want to stop learning.

We are texting this morning. I think we may be on the verge of a breakthrough. I don't need a mother hen, which is what she was becoming and it was taking its toll on both of us, but I sure need my best friend back.

Whew! So much going on! So much more than today's q/q!!!
Yes, Gary, it's very good that the two of you are texting. You deserve your best friend back. I included your name again this morning during the silent devotion with the benediction about healing body and spirit.
As for today's q/q: I teach; therefore, I study (or: I teach; therefore, I learn). I enroll in seminars and workshops all the time; here in San Diego, there are two Jewish community-wide gatherings (one before school starts, called the Back to School Workshop, which is coming the last Sunday of August and for which I'm already registered, and one usually in January which used to be called the Mid-Winter Conference although it has changed its name a few times over the last ten years). Moreover, I'm always reading books, magazines and articles online about the topics I'm supposed to be teaching (and related matters). Always. And it doesn't change whether my students are 12 years old or 80 years old...
